We are James and KayCee Hunter from the McDonald county area. We wanted to stay in this area and when we decided to settle down and have a family we didn’t think we were able to have kiddos of our own so we decided to foster and give a home to those who do need one. We hoped we would one day be able to adopt and create a family of our own. In the three years we have fostered; we have been placed with a variety of children and each were very unique in his and her own way. At one point we had one little boy placed with us for a while and we did not know what he would like to do so when enrollment time came around for sports seasons he was not interested in what little there was offered and it made it difficult for us to get him into any activities with his interests; although he did want to play sports. The more we looked the less we found on activities for any of the young children placed with us.

We had often talked about needing a fitness center that was big enough to offer what many of the big fitness centers in the nearby towns had to offer, without the outrageous membership fees. We also did not like that because we had kids we could only go to some of the gyms at specific times because of their daycare options. Also dealing with the traffic after work did not motivate us either. These are the ideas that sparked the concept of the community center.

While we discussed amongst ourselves what to do about it we often heard other people mentioning things that they would like to see in the area and if it were around they would go. This is the beginning of what we hoped to become a reality, not realizing just how big this would end up being. It has been three years ago since we started just talking and putting ideas together and since January of this year we have seen so much growth, interest, and motivation about this facility, we know it will happen. Because of the people of this community and the determination and desire for changes to improve this area’s opportunities we can and will make things happen.

We have since adopted 2 girls and have built a relationship with the one little boys family and he is very much still a part of our family. We are also in hopes to adopt another little boy and are expecting our first born child of our own. We have been blessed in many ways and we want to share the things we have been given and how we have been blessed to the whole community.
